Hollow Oaks

I was recently involved in the production of a feature length independent film shot on location in Austin. I was responsible for creating all sets, prop design, and marketing, including designing and building www.hollowoaks.com.

Hollow Oaks Poster
The poster is reflective of the style of the movie, dramatic and psychological. It was used to initially pomote the movie.
Office design
I designed an office where much of the action takes place. It is rich looking, but still a typical office. The jungle elements are symbolic and add an air of phoney luxury.
Nameplates and business cards
I created nameplates and designed the business cards, as well as brochures, creating a marketing look for the fictional apartment complex.
Apartment Design
I created over ten distinctive apartments representing the characters in the film. This character is a faithful christian and the bed frame was chosen to create a halo effect around her head.
Apartment Design
For this apartment, I designed everything down to the cover of the magazine on his TV tray. We used fog to create a stagnant feeling for this character.
Apartment Design
I acquired these deer trophies to decorate this apartment, positioned so that it stares at the characters during the scene, adding to the tension. That's me between takes kissing the deer. I loved this set.
Apartment Design
This character was in the process of moving, so I filled the apartment with boxes towering all around him.
Costume Design
This character works at an ice cream shop, and I created her uniform as a silent mockery of the character.
Set design
I drew the chart on the board in the background to coorespond to the character's personality and monologue, a simple but effective way to use the set as a characterization tool.
